James Arthur Dicus

July 31, 1935 — August 25, 2009

James Arthur (Sonny) Dicus was born July 31, 1935 in Collinwood, Tennessee, the son of the late Jesse Roger and Annie Ollie Marie Bryson Dicus. He was united in marriage to Robbie Nell Moser on August 8, 1955. Mr. Dicus was a supervisor for 47 years at Hassell and Hughes Lumber Company in Collinwood before retiring. He was of the Protestant Faith and served as Collinwood city commissioner over 20 years.



Mr. Dicus departed this life on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 74 Years, 25 Days.



He is survived by his wife, Robbie Nell Moser Dicus; a son, Brent Dicus and wife, Melinda; a daughter, Debbie Dicus Cole Pigg and husband, Travis; three grandchildren, Jessica Cole, Carly and Chance Dicus; two brothers, Oneal Dicus and wife, Rita and Bill Dicus and wife, Verna all of Collinwood, TN; several nieces and nephews.



In addition to his parents, Mr. Dicus was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Dicus, a sister, Bobbie Jane Dicus Putman, and son-in-law, Jarvis Cole.



Services will be held on Friday, August 28, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Collinwood, Tennessee, with Josh Stults, Tim Hanback, and Mike Hammonds officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Pallbearers will be Ricky Dicus, Keith Dicus, Rod Thompson, William Pigg, Jeff Lee, Michael Duren. Honorary pallbearers will be J. H. Ayers, Paul David Skaggs, Dale Adams, Tony Hunt, Elmo Littrell, Leo Littrell, Danny Brown. Visitation will be Thursday, August 27, 2009 from 5 pm to 9 pm and Friday, August 28, 2009 from 9 am to service time at the funeral home.
