James Ray Doyle departed this life on Sunday, November 17, 2019, at the age of 85 years, 3 months, and 16 days. He was born in Clifton, Tennessee on August 1, 1934, the son of the late Jim and Vera Davis Doyle. On January 20, 1969, he was united in marriage to Daisy Price, who survives.
James served his country honorably in the United States Army as a military police officer. He acquired technical certification in electrical and HVAC repair. Throughout the years he had worked in maintenance at Hardin County Hospital, police officer for Savannah Police Department, and retired from Packaging Corporation of America. James was a member of the Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He loved golfing, spending time with his grandchildren, UT football, gardening, and traveling. He was a handyman and enjoyed tinkering and fixing things.
James is survived by his wife, Daisy of Savannah, Tennessee; daughters, Vicki Lay and husband Philip, and Amanda Plunkett and her husband Mark, all of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Trevor Hathcock, Mary Lay, Jaydin Morris, Jack DeBerry and his wife Lesley, Jessica Stricklin and her husband Steven, Brandy Norman and her husband Dylan, all of Savannah, Tennessee, and Jill Wild and her husband Tanner of Huntington, West Virginia; and great grandchildren, Daisy, Walker, Carter, all of West Virginia, Bailey, Brinley, Marilyn, James, Jamison, and Kaile, all of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Joe Doyle.
