James Robert Durham, Jr. was born March 1, 1922 in Morris Chapel, Tennessee the son of the late James Robert Durham, Sr. and Virginia Shelby Durham.
He was united in marriage to Lois V. White on April 1, 1948. Mrs. Durham preceded him in death on February 18, 1997.
Mr. Durham was a Teacher for 33 years with the McNairy County School System. He was a member of the Faith Pointe Church in Adamsville, Tennessee. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II having served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was the recipient of numerous medals and decorations among which were the American Theater Ribbon with 5 Bronze Stars, World War II Victory Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Durham served as Chairman of the McNairy County Republican Party for many years.
Mr. Durham departed this life on July 28, 2010 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 88 Years, 4 Months, 27 Days.
He is survived by his daughter, Robbie Knight of Michie, TN, two sons, Harvey Durham of Adamsville, TN, Wayne Durham of Corinth, MS, six grandchildren, Shawn Hollin, Tammy Hale, Jeremy Durham, Amber Choate, Ashley' Durham, Chris Knight; two great grandchildren, John Hollin, Courtney Hollin; son-in-law, Gary Knight; daughter-in-law, Donna Durham, and daughter-in-law of 34 1/2 years, Charlotte Durham. A host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Durham was preceded in death by four sisters, Cora Foster, Maggie Fondren, Irene Boswell, and Elizabeth Durham; three brothers, Albert M. Durham, Johnny Durham, and Vernon Durham.
