James Ellis Flippo

October 24, 1949 — June 11, 2010

James Ellis Flippo of Hohenwald, TN was born October 24, 1949 in Wayne Co., Tennessee, the son of the late William Cleveland and Mary Marie Seiber Flippo. He was united in marriage to Brenda Jane Reeves on December 21, 2000.



Mr. Flippo was a logger/heavy equipment operator and was a member of the High Forest Church of God. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict.



Mr. Flippo departed this life on Friday, June 11, 2010 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 60 Years, 7 Months, 18 Days.



He is survived by his wife, Brenda Jane Reeves of Hohenwald, TN; six sons, Cody Flippo, James W. Flippo, Jeff Murdock, Randy Murdock, Marvin Murdock, Michael Brewer all of Hohenwald, TN; three daughters, Mary Defoe, Elenore Oguin, Faye Butler all of Hohenwald, TN; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leon Flippo of Hohenwald, TN, W. C. Flippo of Waynesboro, TN, Bill Hicks of Dearborn Heights, MI; five sisters, Ruby Faye Hammack of Lincoln Park, MI, Mattie Skelton of Hohenwald, TN, Norma Moody of Leitchfield, KY, Senia Skelton of Waynesboro, TN, Pauline Camper of Gainesboro, TN; several nieces and nephews.



In addition to his parents, Mr. Flippo was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Ford Flippo, Vester Hicks Jr.; a sister, Magdeline Lestwirtch.



Services will be held on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 1:30 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Leon Flippo, Ruby Hammack, and Tony Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Napier Cemetery at Lewis County, Tennessee with military rites and Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Pallbearers will be Kenny Wallace, Adam Flippo, Jeff Flippo, Daniel Flippo, Tom Skelton, James W. Flippo. Honorary pallbearers will be Kent Wallace, Jeff Murdock, Marvin Murdock.
