James Freeman Webb, 87 of Henderson, Tennessee, passed away at 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 8, 2025.
One of ten children, he was born October 25, 1938, in Hunter, Missouri to John Thomas Webb and Molly Robertson Webb. James loved to deer hunt and took time to raise beagle dogs. He enjoyed wood working and spent much time building furniture for the home he shared with his wife, Carol Hoppe Webb. James and Carol were married in 1978 at Poplar Bluff, MO. They made their home in Henderson, TN where they were faithful members of the Henderson church of Christ. James spent 30 years working for Westvaco. He started with the company in Leeper, MO as a laborer and then transferred to Bethel Springs, TN in 1984. He retired as an Office Manager in 2003. He was a member of the Chester County Lions Club and served as club President for a term. James was an incredibly kind and laid-back man with great love for his family. His ready laugh and smile were a joy to all who knew him.
James is survived by his wife, Carol; three daughters, Becky Fischer and husband Lee of Ellsinore, Missouri, Cynthia Stucker and husband Tim, of Ellsinore, Missouri, and Tammy Smith and husband Kevin, of Warsaw, Missouri; seven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Ralph Webb, Norma Geer, and Joyce Maness.
His parents and 6 siblings, Marie Hilterbrand, John Clifford Webb, Anna Pauline Washburn, Lorene Colyott, Shirley Arenz, and Barbara Oldham preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday, at Shackelford’s Casey Chapel in Henderson, TN. Burial will be at Henderson City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tennessee Children’s Home, Henderson Campus, 170 Frank Latham Rd, Pinson, TN 38366.
