James Ray (Ray) George was born May 31, 1927 in Sheffield, AL the son of the late James Robert and Arbie Ina Farris George. He was united in marriage to Beatrice Loraine Parker on March 6, 1953. Mrs. George preceded him in death on October 27, 1996.
Mr. George served his country honorably in the United States Army and worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) as an office administrator, and retired in 1982 after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Acton Church of Christ in Michie, Tennessee. Mr. George loved attending church and he served as Elder, Sunday School Teacher, and Song Leader at different times throughout his life. He was a friend to many and a devoted family man.
Mr. George departed this life on February 18, 2015 in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 87 Years, 8 Months, 18 Days. He is survived by a daughter, Susan Douglas and husband David of Memphis, TN; a son, Timothy Parker George of Corinth, MS; a grandchild, Hannah Douglas of Searcy AR; two brothers, Malcolm George and wife Verlon, John George and wife Peggy; and a sister, Jean Smith and husband George.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. George was preceded in death by a brother, General George.
