JAMES H. ‘BUSTER’ GRAVES
Henderson, TN: James H. ‘Buster’ Graves, age 90, died Wednesday night at Tri-County Healthcare in Adamsville.
Mr. Graves was born in Trenton, TN and reared in Trenton, Blytheville, AR, and Chester County, TN. He was the son of the late Joseph Harmon and Viola Scott Graves. He went to school in Blytheville, Pinson, and Chester County High School. He married Nina Ward in 1940 and they made their home in Ogden, Utah while he served in the U. S. Army at the 832nd Ordnance Base Depot. He traveled for Shapleigh Hardware and lived in Greensboro, NC, Vicksburg, MS and later moved back to Henderson. He loved traveling and had traveled in every state except North Dakota and Hawaii.
He had owned and operated Graves Hardware, the Kiwi Shop, and the Western Auto Store. He has also worked for Stroud Chevrolet, Montgomery Ward, K. Mart and Ferry Morse Seed Company.
He was a member of the Estes Church of Christ where he had served as an elder in the 60’s and 70’s.
Mr. Graves was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Ward Graves in 2008 and a daughter, Brenda Beshires in 2003; He is survived by a son-in-law, Jerry Beshires; two grandchildren, Brent Beshires and wife Anita and Beth Haskins and husband Steve all of Henderson. He has five great-grandchildren Justin, Jade, and Jaron Haskins and Grant and Daniel Beshires and a great great-grandchild Jacelyn Haskins.
He was preceded in death by seven siblings; Leotha Graves, Lila Haltom, Joe Graves, Mary Arnold, Victor Graves, Reba Ruth, and Willa Dean Graves.
