James Byron Harper of Cypress Inn, TN was born December 9, 1959 in Waynesboro, Tennessee, the son of Vera Lillace Wilson and the late Rev. J. B. Harper. James was an employee/client of Buffalo River Services in Wayne County and was a member of the Scotts Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Cypress Inn, Tennessee.
James was a participate of many Special Olympics throughout his life and was loved by many, far and near.
He departed this life on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 51 Years, 2 Months, 17 Days.
James is survived by his mother, Vera Wilson Harper of Cypress Inn, TN; a brother, William Carl (Judy) Harper of Iron City, TN; sisters, Agnes Lovall (Aggie) Sanderson, Florence, AL, Sue (George) Wertz, Gurley, AL, Barbara (Flavis) Long, Chattanooga, TN, Sally (Bennie) Brewer, Castalian Springs, TN, Brenda (Tom) Squires, Franklin, TN, Wanda Ayers, Cypress Inn, TN; sister-in-law, Sallie Harper, Cypress Inn, TN; Ninety-one nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends.
In addition to his father, James was preceded in death by brothers, Waylon Odell Harper and Sammy Larry Harper; a sister, Onell Harper; brothers-in-law, Larry Ayers and John Sanderson; and nephew, Barry Wayne Nafe.
Services will be Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Greg Eaton, Junior Overstreet, and Marvin Morrow officiating. Burial will be in Railroad Cemetery, Iron City, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors directing. Pallbearers will be Michael Harper, Barton Harper, Hurshel Miles,Bennie Howard Brewer, Joseph Butler, Chris Harper, Jeremy Brewer, and Chandler Squires. Honorary pallbearers will be his group buddies at Buffalo River Services.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 1, 2011 from 2 pm to 9 pm and Wednesday, March 2, 2011 from 9 am until service time at the funeral home.
