James Dee Harris

James Dee Harris Jr. was born September 12, 1930 in Wayne County, Tennessee the son of the late James Dee Harris, Sr. and Lillie House Harris. Mr. Harris departed this life Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Wayne Medical Center at the age of 80 Years, 11 Months, 23 Days. In addition to his parents, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Joyce Morris Harris;

son, David Lee Harris; great-grandson, Gunner Hayze Lauderdale; two sisters, Dorothy Wade Harris and Hazel Holt. Mr. Harris, a Korean War vetran, served his country in the U.S. Marines.

Mr. Harris was retired from Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry after 55 years of service.



He is survived by two sons, James Michael Harris and his wife Linda of Lutts, TN, Timothy Ray Harris of Columbia, TN; a daughter, Libby Harris Lauderdale of Waynesboro, TN; 7 grandchildren, Joy Leann Harris, David Lee Harris, Michael Wayne Harris, Steven Wesley Lauderdale, Mendy Lynn Lauderdale Dickey and her husband Patrick; Timothy Ray Harris, Jr. and his wife Katherine, and Kimberly Nicole Harris; 8 great-grandchildren, Jayden Ann Lauderdale, Autumn Rae Dickey, Ashlyn Jade Dickey, Killie Marie Harris, Jonathon Wayne Harris, Taylor Wayne Harris, Michael Alaxander Harris, and Raiden Leigh Sherriff-Harris.



Services will be Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Waynesboro with Casey Jones officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Lutts Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
