James Arlie Horton

James Arlie Horton was born February 2, 1944 in Wayne County, TN, the son of the late John Elmer and Josie Evelyn Reaves Horton. Mr. Horton departed this life on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 75 years, 1 month, 17 days. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1970. On February 25, 1967, he was united in marriage to Patricia Gale Holt. Mr. Horton, a retired school bus driver and mechanic, worked with the Collinwood School System and Hughes Hardwood. He enjoyed working in his yard and gardening and was a member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Holt Horton of Collinwood, TN; a son, James Michael Horton of Collinwood, TN; a daughter, Cynthia Rana Horstmann of Lawrenceburg, TN, grandchildren, Tyler Horton, Colton Horton, Tristian Horton, Kassidy Horton, Brady Horstmann and Breanne Horstmann; four brothers, Doyle Horton, Johnny Horton and Kenneth Horton all of Collinwood, TN and G.W. Horton and wife, Wanda of Savannah, TN; five sisters, Linda Sue Cypert and husband, Roy and Barbara White and husband, Randall all of Bristol, IN, Judy Thompson and husband, Dennis of Collinwood, TN, Teresa Bramlett of Jackson, TN and Janice Hunt and husband, Jeff of Waynesboro, TN and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Horton was preceded in death by a brother, E.J. Horton.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Earl Rich and Greg Eaton officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Cromwell Crossroads Cemetery, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County directing. Visitation will be Friday, March 22, 2019 from 5 pm to 9 pm and Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 10 am until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Michael Horton, Tyler Horton, Colton Horton, Tristian Horton, Kassidy Horton and Brady Horstmann with honorary pallbearers being Cindy Horstmann and Breanne Horstmann.
