James Roy Horton

Funeral services for James Roy (J.R.) Horton, 83, Florence, will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Shackelford Chapel, Collinwood, TN. with Kenny Windsor and Jim Roy Cabiness officiating. Interment following in Memorial Gardens, Collinwood with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home.Mr. Horton, a native of Lutts, TN, died Sunday at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by parents, Roy and Vergie Morris Horton, brothers, Charles and Wayland Horton. Mr Horton was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Ford Motor Company as a dye cast operator and a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.Survivors include his wife, Genevie R. Horton, Florence, AL; daughter, Nancy McGuire, (Mike) Tuscumbia, AL; granddaughter;Julie Jones ; grandson Steven Young (Heather); great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Hannah, Devin, and Dylan; brother, Jerry Horton, Camden, TN; sisters, Helen Callihan, Akron, OH, Evelyn Wilson, Iron City, TN, Emanola Holt, Cypress Inn, TN, Winnie Faye Nowlin and Sally Kate McWilliams both of New Johnsonville, TN.
