James Rickey Houston was born February 1, 1951 in Corinth, MS the son of Emma Nola Brewer Houston and the late James Reid Houston.
He was united in marriage to Rhonda Lynn Dickerson on June 11, 1971.
Mr. Houston was a member of the last graduating class from Michie High School in 1969. He attended Northeast Mississippi Community College and Crump Vocational Technical School to become a machinist. Mr. Houston was the second person hired at what was then known as Halls of Mississippi in Corinth, now World Color. He retired in April of 2002. Mr. Houston formerly served in the Tennessee National Guard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and was a talented artist.
Mr. Houston departed this life on February 22, 2019 in Michie, Tennessee at the age of 68 Years, 21 Days. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rhonda Lynn Houston of Michie, TN; a "daughter of the heart," Misty Lane Smith and husband Brian of Corinth, MS; his mother, Emma Nola Houston of Michie, TN; a sister, Cindy (Houston) Reeves and husband Jerry of Corinth, MS; a brother-in-law, Randy Lane Dickerson and wife Rhonda of Corinth, MS; two nephews, Dylan Reeves and Chris Dickerson, both of Corinth, MS; three nieces: Lanie Dickerson, Bethany Reeves South and husband Brad, and Brittney Dickerson Smith-McGee and husband Robert, all of Corinth, MS; two great-nieces, Bellamy and Jaeda South; a great-nephew, Chandler South; two step-nieces, Marlena and Michayla Leonard, both of Corinth, MS; a step-great-nephew, Cayden Leonard of Corinth, MS; his "fur babies," Sam and Wendi; and many extended family and friends.
The family wishes to thank his special nurses, Sheri Smith and Paige Jetton, and the staff of Legacy Hospice for their excellent care.
