James Perry (Jim) Gray, born on February 16, 1940, in Memphis, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, in Ramer, Tennessee, at the age of 85 years, 9 months, and 17 days. He was the beloved son of the late James Talmadge and Marian Cardinale Gray.
A proud graduate of Memphis State University, Jim was an industrious entrepreneur who made significant contributions to his community. He owned several businesses, including Action Apparel in Ramer, TKC in Eastview, and Peaceful Dove in Michie, employing over 250 individuals in McNairy County. His commitment to the community extended beyond business; he was heavily involved in youth baseball in Ramer and McNairy County, served as a member and supporter of the Ramer Ruritan Club, and was instrumental in the founding of Jesus Cares of McNairy County, working alongside fellow community members for the greater good.
Jim was a devoted husband to Linda, deeply appreciative of her love and support throughout their life together. He was a loving father and grandfather, committed to providing for his family and creating meaningful relationships.
An active member of the Catholic Church, Mr. Gray served as a Permanent Deacon and attended Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Savannah, Tennessee. Throughout his life, he was known for his humility, kindness, and unwavering belief in the goodness of others.
Mr. Gray is survived by his wife, Linda Stephens Gray of Ramer, TN; his daughter, Dawn Jones and husband Mike of Selmer, TN; four sons, Darrell Gray and wife Shannon of Ramer, TN, Dan Gray and wife Lisa of Ramer, TN, Jimmy Gray and wife Jill of Selmer, TN and Stephen Gray of Ramer, TN; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bob Gray and his wife Joan of Daphne, AL.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a grandson, Hunter Benjamin Stephen Gray, and a sister, Patricia Cohen.
James Perry (Jim) Gray will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but also for his warmth and dedication to family and community.
