Larry Gray
was born in New Albany, Mississippi on February 17, 1943, the son of the late James Loyt and Celesta Elizabeth LaFrain Gray.
On May 9, 1987, he was united in marriage to Karen Ann Snowden, who survives.
Larry served his country proudly in the United States Navy. He had worked as an Electrical Contractor and was an Electrical Math Teacher at Memphis State University. Larry was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was an avid drag boat owner and racer and bird watcher. Larry was not your average 80 year old man, he could build anything, repair everything, and figure out any solution to any problem. He never met a stranger, and anybody who didn't get the chance to spend time with him, truly missed out on knowing a great man!
Larry departed this life on Saturday, October 25, 2025 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 82 years, 8 months, and 8 days.
In addition to his wife of 38 years, Karen Ann Gray of Savannah, Tennessee, he is survived by his children, Robin Gray, Daniel "Scott" Gray, and John "Phillip" Gray, all of Memphis, Tennessee, and Amanda Gray Acosta of Savannah, Tennessee; stepdaughter, Tammy Knight of Oakland, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren; and sister, Mariallie Smithson of Greenville, Tennessee.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, James "Loyt" and Celesta Elizabeth Gray and one sister, Brenda Browder.
