James Lott

March 23, 1921 — July 2, 2011

Henderson, TN: James Harvel Lott age 90, passed away July 2, 2011 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.



He was born and reared in the Jacks Creek Community, the son of the late William John and Birdie Burress Lott. He went to school in Chester County. As a young man he farmed and in 1940 he married Reba Wade. In 1944 he entered the U.S. Navy where he was stationed in the Pacific Theatre of Operations on a Destroyer, and was in Pearl Harbor and also saw the flag being raised on Iwo Jima. James returned home in 1945, living in Millington, TN and then moved back to Chester County. He became a brick layer and was in construction. He was a brick mason for over 50 years. He worked on the Milan Arsenal and many other buildings around the area laying bricks.



Mr. Lott was a member of the Sanford Hill Baptist Church and a member of the VFW in Henderson #4844 and went to the Senior Citizens in Henderson. He loved to bird hunt and loved his shotguns.



He is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Lott Thomas and husband Harold of Henderson; a grandson, Doug Thomas and wife Sonia of Henderson and three great grandchildren, Cameron, Kaitlyn and Kyle Thomas.



He was preceded in death by his wife, Reda Wade Lott in Oct. 2000; a twin brother, William Bill Lott and five sisters, Helen Powers, Junelle Morris, Johnnie Wells, Logan Morris and Edna Lott Smith and also a good friend, Florine Miller in 2010.



Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Shackelford –Casey Chapel with Elmer Cole and Bobby Russ and Charles Cauthers officiating and burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.
