James Wayne (Senor) Massengill was born November 24, 1929 in McNairy County, Tennessee the son of the late Layfatte and Artie Martin Massengill.
He was first united in marriage to Ader Black, who preceded him in death on May 21, 2007 after 52 years of marriage. On September 27, 2008 he was united in marriage to Ruth Stanfield, who survives.
Mr. Massengill was a commercial driver for Gulf Transport. He also worked for McNairy County as a deputy sheriff under Clifford Coleman, and for the city of Adamsville as a police officer. He was a member of the House of Prayer Pentecostal Church. Mr. Massengill loved bluegrass gospel music, and was an accomplished banjo player.
Mr. Massengill departed this life on September 12, 2010 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 80 Years, 9 Months, 19 Days. He is survived by his wife Ruth (Stanfield) Massengill of Adamsville, TN; a step-daughter, Sherry McCurdy and husband Don Buckhardt of Hermitage, TN; two step-sons, Gary Creasy of Hermitage, TN and Tommy Grisham and wife Stacy of Savannah, TN; five step-grandchildren: Robert McCurdy, Jeremy McCurdy, Kerry Inman, Melody Grisham, and Levi Casteel; four step-great-grandchildren: Jaxon McCurdy, Zander McCurdy, Harmony Kiser, and Starla Prather; a brother, Jerry Massengill and wife Frances of Whiteville, TN; a special friend whom he loved like a son, Joe Dan Humphries of Adamsville, TN; and a host of extended family and friends.
