James Harold “Bo” Morris, Jr. was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 31, 1957 and departed this life on Thursday, December 13, 2018. Bo was the son of J.H. Morris, Sr. and Polly McDowell Morris. In his preschool years, the young family lived in Texas where climbing trees and enjoying the beach were favorite pastimes. Both parents were originally from Tennessee so they moved north and Wayne County would eventually become home. Before settling in the Cromwell Crossroads area, there would be three preteen years in Cherokee, Alabama in a neighborhood full of bikes, friends and baseball. With Colbert Park so near, he enjoyed fishing and swimming in the river almost daily. He was a tremendous baseball player and in high school his 6’6” frame carried well on the basketball court. Back in Tennessee he continued his love of the outdoors hunting and fishing often. His dad often returned home to find all his gun shells missing because Bo loved to target shoot and was very competitive, especially when his brothers-in-law started arriving. He never missed a turkey shoot or an opening day of deer season. After graduation Bo entered the Navy and returned home after discharge. He spent several years working with his dad in the siding business and developed his personality of never meeting a stranger. After his dad’s retirement he worked for a time at CCA, but found what he loved doing in long haul trucking. His children have fond memories of cookouts and all night card games. His sisters have many funny memories of their childhood. Like his dad, Bo had the ability to wiggle his ears and even in his last hours was entertaining the nurses and family around his bedside. Bo married Pamela Jackson in 1979 and three children followed in quick succession. He is survived by his former wife, Pam Morris; son, Christopher Morris (Sarah); Daughters, Mandy Farmer and Jamie Keener; sisters, Brenda Thompson (Kenneth) and Inkie West (Darrell) all of Collinwood. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Taylor Morris, Katie-Lee Morris, Addie-Lin Morris, Finley Morris, Dylan Farmer, Jayla Farmer, Jacob Keener, and Jevin Keener. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday December 16, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Shackelford Chapel in Collinwood with Greg Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Cromwell Crossroads Cemetery.
