James Thomas Reaves of Savannah, TN, formerly of Collinwood, TN, was born July 24, 1926 in Wayne County, TN, the son of the late Dewey and Flora Sherrills Reaves. Mr. Reaves departed this life on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Savannah Healthcare and Rehab at the age of 90 Years, 6 Months, 30 Days. He married Joyce Farmer on December 30, 1950 and was a retired mechanic for TVA and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors are his wife, Joyce Reaves of Savannah, TN; sons, Larry Reaves and wife, Sharon of Savannah, TN and Kenny Reaves and wife, Robbin of Waynesboro, TN; a daughter, Brenda J. Pitts of Albertville, AL; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Luther Reaves of Florence, AL, Jim Reaves of Adamsville, TN, Clifton Reaves of Savannah, TN and Cliff Reaves of Crump, TN; sisters, Sue Willard of Henderson, TN and Maudie Harris and Jean Cates both of Savannah, TN; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Reaves was preceded in death by a son, Freddy Reaves; a great-grandchild, Olivia Self; brother, Arlie Reaves and sisters, Hazel Smith and Lurie Gibson.
Services will be Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 1:30 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Brenda Pitts and Bronson Reaves officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Pitts, Zachery Pitts, Shane Reaves, Thomas Reaves, Bronson Reaves and Kaden Reaves.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 6 pm to 9 pm and Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 11 am until service time at the funeral home.
