James Thomas Reed was born October 2, 1951 in Dyersburg, TN, the son of the late Joe Freeman Reed and Juanita Pack Reed Kee.
James found love and companionship when he married Bonnie Faye Goodrum on June 3, 1994. Their union was a beautiful chapter in his life, filled with joyful memories and deep affection. Sadly, Bonnie preceded him in death on August 5, 2018
After a fulfilling career at a Water Treatment Plant in Atlanta, GA, James and Bonnie settled in Hornsby, TN, where they made a home filled with warmth and love. Known for his strong faith and gentle spirit, James was a good, God-fearing man with a sharp mind and a passionate heart. His enthusiasm for history was evident in his role as an avid Civil War reenactor, where he traveled far and wide to breathe life into the past, sharing stories and knowledge of that era with fellow enthusiasts.
James departed this life on June 12, 2025 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 73 Years, 8 Months, 10 Days. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and integrity, forever remembered by those who knew him.
He is survived by a brother, Franklin Reed (Bea) of Newbern, TN; two sisters, Tanya Reed Roberts of Dyersburg, TN, Lisa Reed Kirk (Ronnie) of Dyer, TN; cousin and special friend, Robert Pugh; special friend, Johnie Harris; and nieces and nephews.
James Thomas Reed will be laid to rest, next to his wife in Curtis Hill Cemetery in Bethel Springs, TN.
