James Ellis Reeves

James E. Reeves
Matthews-James E. Reeves, 85, of Matthews, died December 13, 2015, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. Born February 24, 1930, in Iron City, Tenn., to the late Thomas W. and Dorothy M. Moore Reeves, he had been a foreman for Missouri Industries in Dexter. He served with the United States Army, 361st Engineer Construction Battalion, 5th Army, during the Korean War from February 1951 – February 1958. He was of the Baptist belief.
His greatest joy in life was to be surrounded by his family, telling stories from the past. His family was always his top priority in life, as his great love for them was shown in many ways throughout the years. On December 5, 2009, in Matthews, he married Geraldine Fowler, who survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Angie Brewer of Matthews; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Marilyn Ritter of Chaffee, Leann Knuckles of Chaffee, Robin and Russell Walker of New Madrid and Gina and Chris Archie of Canalou; one brother, Odas Reeves and wife Faye of Powell, Tenn.; and one sister, Eva Winfield of Roseville, Mich. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Phillip Reeves; one son-in-law, Billy Ritter; and one brother, Delbert Reeves.
Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
A second visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 18, at the Shackleford Funeral Chapel in Collinwood, Tenn., with Larry Holley, pastor of the Old Path Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment will follow in the McGlamery Cemetery in Collinwood.
Pallbearers will be Steven Brewer, Tyler Palmer, Skyler Archie, Brenton James, Tim Kirk, Mikey Price and Logan Archie.
