James E. Rice

James E. Rice departed this life on Sunday, July 12, 2015, at the age of 96 years, 11 months 10 days. He was born in Henderson County, Tennessee on August 2, 1918, the son of the James E. Rice, Sr. and Grace Phillips Rice. On September 2, 1941, he was united in marriage to Ilean Welch, who preceded him in death on December 17, 2010.
James grew up in Sardis, Tennessee and later lived in Madison, Alabama for 10 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired federal civil service employee. James was a member of the Wall Highway Baptist Church in Madison, Alabama, and enjoyed gardening and fishing.
He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Rice of Madison, Alabama; sons, Terry Rice of New Port Richey, Florida, Don Rice and wife, Barbara of Broad Run, Virginia, Ken Rice and wife, Cindy of Acworth, Georgia; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, James was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Rice and 2 infant granddaughters.
