James William Smith

James William Smith was born October 11, 1933 in McNairy County, TN, the son of the late Bill Smith and Mary Susan Russell Smith.

James was a member of the Eastside Church of Christ in Selmer, Tennessee. For over 50 years, he devoted himself as the owner of Smith Metals. Traveling brought him joy as he explored new places, while music filled his heart with warmth and inspiration. His passion for horses was a testament to his adventurous spirit. He loved his family.

Mr. Smith departed this life on October 5, 2024 in at the age of 90 Years, 11 Months, 24 Days.

He is survived by two daughters, Jimmie Carol Wallace of Mobile, AL, Connie Anita Farnan and husband George of Jacksonville Beach, FL; a step daughter, Angie Hill; three grandchildren: Shelby Smith, Amanda Hiers, Gregory Favre; two great grandchildren, Aaron James and Riley Heirs; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Smith; son, James William Smith Jr.; step daughter, Lisa Coleman; grandchild, Tommy Hatmaker; eight sisters: Ruby Hickman, Billie Jo Smith, Gladys Sowell, Georgia Williams, Mildred Boyd, Nancy Surratt, Cletus Cooper, and Irene Frey; and mother of his children, Peggy Jo Smith.
