James Benjamin (Jim) Smith, Jr.was born in Olive Hill, Tennessee on September 16, 1935 the son of the late James Benjamin and Bertie Hurst Smith.On July 7, 1956 he was united in marriage to Betty Lou White, who preceded him in death on December 31, 2003.Mr. Smith was the co-owner of H.O. Smith and Sons Store. He was the past Hardin County Commissioner, Fire Chief for District 9 Fire Department, "self-appointedMayor" of Olive Hill, and was involved in many community and county activities. Mr. Smith departed this life on Monday, September 28, 2009 at the age of 74 years, 12 days.Mr. Smith is survived by a daughter, Dianah Smith of Olive Hill, Tennessee; a son, Jimmy Dean Smith and wife Cheryl of Olive Hill, Tennessee; a brother, Robert O. Smith of Olive Hill, Tennessee; 3 grandchildren, Stephanie Luker, Jonathan Smith, and Benjamin Smith; a step-grandchild, Billy Sievers; 3 great-grandchildren, Jaden Smith, Jackson Smith, and Ryland Luker.
