James W. (Sog) Gray passed away in Lubbock, TX on Thursday, July 23 at the age of 93. He was the seventh of eight children born to Charlie and Laura Gray in Adamsville, TN.
As a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during WW2, he was stationed in the Philippines flying missions along the China coast. Upon discharge, he worked for the NCR Corporation retiring as Regional District Director in Memphis. He was also a Mason and Shriner. He loved playing golf and hunting.
He was married to Rosa Nell Haynes, who preceded him in death, and is survived by two daughters, Sharon Lee McGinty of Plains, TX and Laura Deborah Kunz of Shalimar, FL, three grandsons, James Alton McGinty and Patrick Lee McGinty of Lubbock, TX and Christopher Gray McGinty of Denton, TX, three great-grand-daughters, Hannah Leigh McGinty, Bailey Elizabeth McGinty and Emma Marie McGinty, and one great-grandson, Parker Lee McGinty of Lubbock, TX, and his sister, Burlene Lamberth of Stuttgart, AR.
Services will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, 1 p.m. at Shackleford Funeral Directors of Selmer, TN. Interment at Adamsville Cemetery in Adamsville, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials to be sent to The Shriners Hospital for Children in memory of James W. Gray: The Shriners Hospital for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky point Drive, Tampa FL 33607.
