James Richard Staggs

Mr. James Richard Staggs Sr. was born November 20, 1958 in Lauderdale County, AL to the late Marion Richard and Glena Nell Wright Staggs. Mr. Staggs played the guitar and led singing at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, was a former member of State Line Church, a County Commissioner representing the 6th district of Wayne County and was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Collinwood. He was united in marriage to Kathryn McCurry on February 9, 1980. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren with a love that was beyond measure. Mr. Staggs departed this life on March 14, 2019 in Cypress Inn, Tennessee making his stay in this life 60 Years, 3 Months, and 22 Days.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years Kathryn McCurry Staggs of Iron City, TN; three sons, Junior Staggs and Katie of Puryear, TN, Matthew Staggs and Alex of Oakland Park, FL, Bubba Staggs and Tia of Iron City, TN; a daughter, Jessica Littrell of Iron City, TN; two brothers, Ronnie Staggs and Donna of Collinwood, TN, David Staggs and Shelia of Cloverdale, AL; a sister, Diane Staggs Rich and EJ of Cypress Inn, TN; nine grandchildren, Elsie , Cordel , Jordan , Mason , Savannah Kate , Sophie Beth , Braylyn , Gideon and Scarlett Rose. He is also survived by his Best Friend, Chris Littrell, Brother-in-law Rickey McCurry, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law Raymond and Faye Holt, 6 nieces, 3 nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends some of which are very special, but they know who they are.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: his father-in-law James McCurry, and a niece Beth Ann.

Services will be held on March 19, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, Tennessee, with Dusty Malugen, Jackie Ward, David Staggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Iron City, Tennessee with Masonic Rites given by Junior Staggs.
