James Earl Tackett, age 66 of Hickory Valley, passed away at his home on Thursday morning, November 12, 2015.
Mr. Tackett was born Wednesday, February 23, 1949, to Herschel Tackett and Ocie Foust in McNairy Co., TN. He was married to Marilyn Tackett on March 6, 1970. Mr. Tackett spent forty-five years as a mechanic working for Gulf Oil, Exxon Oil, Mike Jeter, and Howell & Sons. James was a member of the Baptist church. He loved Nascar, Law & Order, crossword puzzles, #48 Jimmie Johnson, and most of all his grandchildren. He resided in Hickory Valley since 1970.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Tackett of Hickory Valley; a daughter, April Tackett (Richard) of Middleton; a son, Lynn Tackett (Laurie) of Hickory Valley; two sisters, Barbara Sanders of Huntington Beach, CA, and Millie Beacham of Memphis, TN; three grandchildren, Matthew Tackett, Mitchell Kirby, and Ashley Dacus; and one great-grandchild, Makenzie Dacus.
He was preceded in death by his parents Herschell Tackett and Ocie Foust; a daughter, Debra Denise Bryant; a son, James "Bo" Tackett; a sister, Billie Jean Dobson; and a great-grandchild, Colby Alan Dacus.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) and the American Heart Association (www.heart.org).
