James Robert Terry

Henderson, TN: James Robert Terry, age 81 passed away March 28, 2012 at his home.



Mr. Terry was born and reared in Chester County, the son of the late Clyde Bryant and Clara B. Vestal Terry. He attended grade school in Chester County and also in Jackson. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1947 and served in the Korean War abroad ship till 1952. He made his home in Ventura and Fullerton, CA, in Orange County, where he worked for Boss Uniform Company as a route sales supervisor until he retired in 1982. He enjoyed other part time work after retirement including selling aircraft and aerospace metals. He moved back to Chester County 2000 and in 2001 married to Phyllis Frey Briney. They lived in the Enville area for a couple of years before moving to Henderson in 2003.



He enjoyed sports, was an avid bowler, and he and Phyllis enjoyed golfing weekly. He also played softball for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.



He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Frey Terry of Henderson; three sons, James Terry Jr. Conger of Tucson, AZ, Larry Wayne Terry Conger and wife Patti of Ventura, CA and Steve Allen Terry of Fullerton, CA; three daughters, Phyllis Wren and husband Mike of Odessa, WA, Julie Avalos and husband Bobby of Fullerton, CA and Cindy Gillette and husband Brad of El Toro, CA; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Dodridge of Phoenix, AZ and Patsy Boswell of Jackson, TN and a special sister Regina Cupples of Henderson and a sister-in-law Patricia Ward of Enville. He also has three step children Douglas Briney, Jr. of Anchorage, AK, Rebecca Wright of Yorba Linda, CA and Richard Briney of O’Fallon, MO.
