James Franklin Thomas He was born and reared in Chester County, the son of the late Raymond and Altha Morrison Thomas. He attended schools in Chester County and graduated Chester County High School in 1941. He was a farmer; row cropped and raised cattle and hogs. He was married to Helen Johnson Thomas January 5, 1946. They made their home in Henderson and were married for 60 years. Mrs. Thomas died August 7, 2006.
Mr. Thomas was a veteran of World War II, served his country in the Army for three years during World War II, participating in the Battle of the Bulge. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a clerk, city and rural carrier for 32 years and retired August 1980. He was a member of the Estes Church of Christ for 56 years.
He is survived by two sons; Gary Thomas and wife Linda and Tony Thomas and wife Mary and a daughter, Judy Thomas all of Henderson, TN; 7 grand-daughters, Tracey Christensen and husband Chuck of Cordova, Gena Witherspoon and husband Mike of Henderson, Connie Carson and husband Eddie of Henderson, Lori Qualls and husband Jeremy of Dancyville, Alison Thomas of Henderson, Lisa Thomas of Jackson and Sara Thomas of Henderson; five great-grandchildren, Cameron Christensen, Caleb Christensen, Cayden Carson, Lauren Qualls and Hayden Qualls and two sisters, Lillie Mae Weaver of Jacks Creek and Nina Maroney of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jess Thomas, John Thomas and Joe Thomas and a sister, Louise Skinner.
