JAMES EDWARD THOMPSON, SR.
was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on June 25, 1937 the son of the late John Albert and Cleo Northcutt Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was united in marriage to Margaret Belle Franks, who survives.
Mr. Thompson worked for 44 years for Crounse Corporation as a towboat captain. He was a member of Woodmen of the World, Turkey Creek Baptist Church, and a 32nd Degree Mason. Mr. Thompson loved to fish, work puzzles and go to estate auctions.
He departed this life on January 31, 2018 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 6 days.
In addition to his wife, Margaret of Savannah, Tennessee, he is survived by his children, Janet Copeland of Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, Deborah Young of Savannah, Tennessee, Patricia Littlejohn of Iuka, Mississippi and James Edward Thompson, Jr. of Michie, Tennessee; one sister, Sharon Webb Clearman of Atoka, Tennessee; two brothers, Johnny Thompson of Adamsville, Tennessee and Louis Wayne Thompson of Savannah, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Caroline Tomanek, Jessica Copeland, Christina Pisanello, Fallon Thompson, Eric Littlejohn and Heather Thompson; five great grandchildren, Addison Tomanek, Anniston Tomanek, Avery Tomanek, Prestyn Littlejohn and Brentley Littlejohn; three step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandchild, Christopher Littlejohn, two sisters, Freeda Foster and Carolyn Fowler. and one brother, Judgy Thompson.
