James Irvin Turnbo was born on December 24, 1933, the son of the late Thomas Irvin and Ethel Inez Parrish Turnbo. He was united in marriage to Betty Turnbo, who preceded him in death. James departed this life on June 8, 2017.
James served his country in the United States Army. He worked for IGERT Towing before working as a machinist for TVA. James was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He enjoyed collecting arrowheads and Civil War relics, fishing, and hunting. James was an outstanding mechanic and machinist that specialized in working on small engines and boat motors. He was also a commercial fisherman.
James is survived by his nephews, John P. Garner and wife Shelia of Huntsville, Alabama and Thomas James Garner and wife Zora of Weaver, Alabama; a niece, Cathy Lee Garner of Jacksonville, Alabama; a sister, Virginia Turnbo Garner Thackery of Anniston, Alabama; special friends, Chief Deputy Mike Fielder and Tom Segerson, both of Savannah, Tennessee; and several great great nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations can be made to the Disabled Veterans, March of Dimes, American Cancer of Society, and St. Jude Children's Hospital.
