Janet Johnston Smith After a long and valiant fight, Janet Johnston Smith, 49, of Clifton, TN succumbed to cancer on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at Wayne Medical Center, Waynesboro, TN.



Janet was born in Savannah, TN, on April 5, 1962 to Robert and Wanda Gant Johnston of Clifton, TN, who survive.



For the past several years, she has worked for People's Bank of Clifton as an administrative assistant to the bank president. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, TN. She devoted much of her time to her children and grandson.



Preceding her in death were her maternal grandparents, Oscar and Jo Gant and great-grandmother, Pearl Sipes of Savannah, TN; also her paternal grandparents, Clay and Mabel Keeton Johnston and great-grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. J. T. Keeton of Clifton, TN.



She is survived by her son, Andrew Johnston Smith of Clifton, TN; her daughter, Heather Anne Hunt and her fiance', Cameron McDonald and her precious grandson, Macaden Gant Hunt of Waynesboro, TN. In addition, she leaves her sister, Loyce Kelly and husband, Scott, niece, Kaitlyn Kelly, and nephew, Keeton Kelly all of Waynesboro, TN; an aunt and uncle, Johnnie and David Morgan of Lutts, TN; two cousins, Lisa Reitz of Redington Beach, FL and John Morgan of Charlotte, NC.



Janet had many friends, but two were very special and faithful until the end, Natalie McDonald and Carol Hickerson.



Services will be Monday, September 26, 2011 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with David Kingsley, Lea Thornton, and Scott Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in the Clifton Cemetery at Clifton, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Waynesboro, TN, directing. Pallbearers will be Scott Kelly, Cameron McDonald, Keeton Kelly, Bo Mathis, Byron Davis, Jeff Tilley, Autrey Gobbell, and John Morgan.
