Janice Lee Keen

On May 17th, 2025 Janice Lee Hohenberg Keen 89, died peacefully in her sleep at Country Cottage in Corinth, MS.

Janice was born June 30th 1935 in San Marcos, TX to Ernest and Clara Hohenberg. She attended high school and college in San Marcos. During school she owned and operated a riding stable and competed in horse events where she met Teddy Ray Keen. They married on April 18th 1958, started a family of six kids, and moved to a small ranch in Floresville, TX. While in Floresville, Janice was a nurse aide at the Floresville Hospital and was very involved in the kids’ many activities, including 4H and FFA, sports, band, and other scholastic events.

In 1985 Janice and Ted bought a farm and moved to Ramer, TN where they raised cattle and kept horses. Janice loved the outdoors and kept a large portion of the property forested. She was a member of the Tennessee Forestry Association, McNairy County Forest and Landowners Association, the Alcorn County MS Audubon Society and the Alcorn County Cattleman’s Association. Janice remained active later in her life enjoying bowling on a league in Corinth, MS and participating in 5ks and 10ks even into her late 70s.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband Teddy Ray Keen; parents Ernest and Clara Hohenberg; siblings Roland Hohenberg, Lucille Armstrong, George Hohenberg, and Betty Giles. She is survived by her children Sharon Keen, Lori (Ryuichi) Osawa, Ernest Keen, Nancy (Jerry) Bell, Sam (Elizabeth) Keen, and Kevin (Joi) Keen; grandchildren Kei Osawa, Joshua (Emily) Bell, Jason Bell, Kathryn Bell, Michael Keen, Hope Keen, and Faith Keen; and great grandchildren Emma and Jameson Bell.

Throughout her life, Janice was known for her kindness and compassion towards her fellow people, creatures, and all of nature.
