Janice Louise Gray Nesbitt was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on November 8, 1946, the daughter of the late James Burnice “Bud” Gray and Mable Pearl Palmer Gray.
Janice was preceded in death by her late husband, Lawrence William Stricklin. She was later united in marriage to James Glenn “Jimmy” Nesbitt on January 1, 1983.
Janice worked at Savannah Manufacturing for many years. She later worked in the afterschool program at First Baptist Church, Savannah. Her favorite job throughout her life was as a caretaker for her niece, Mitzi.
She is survived by her husband James Glenn “Jimmy” Nesbitt, one son, Jerone Trent Stricklin, and one grandson, William Trent Stricklin, all of Savannah, Tennessee; a sister, Annie Pearl Estell (Gene) of Savannah, Tennessee, one brother, Larry Wayne Gray (Barbara) of Iuka, Mississippi; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Lawrence William Stricklin and two brothers Jones B. Gray and Bobby Gene Gray all of Savannah, Tennessee.
In her free time, she loved spending time with her grandson, Will, and watching him grow up. She especially liked to spend time at the family farm when she and Jimmy could hitch up the horse and buggy and go for rides with Will. She enjoyed watching western movies, especially Gunsmoke. She was a faithful member of Mountain View Church of Christ in Savannah, Tennessee.
She departed this life at her home on June 7, 2025 at the age of 78 years, 6 months, and 29 days.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mountain View Church of Christ or the American Heart Association.
