Obituary

Mary Jane "Janie" Murray Hutcherson was born on October 28, 1945, in Selmer, Tennessee, the beloved daughter of the late Elgie Murray and Deedie Hill Murray Hatfield.

On December 21, 1964, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Bobby Gerald Hutcherson, Sr. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and devotion to one another. After more than forty-six years of marriage, Bobby preceded her in death on December 20, 2010, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories.

Janie was a member of Forty Forks Baptist Church. Throughout her working years, she was employed at Murray Hill Manufacturing and later in the Jewelry Department at Walmart, where she enjoyed visiting with customers and making lasting friendships. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and never met a stranger.

She found great joy in life's simple blessings. She loved planting flowers and watching them bloom, bringing beauty and color to everything around her. She enjoyed spending time on the telephone, sharing stories, laughter, encouragement, and staying connected with those she loved. Her warm voice and caring heart were a comfort to many.

Above all else, Janie's greatest treasure was her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and adoring great-grandmother. Her sons and grandchildren were the center of her world, and nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with them, celebrating their accomplishments, and surrounding them with her unwavering love. The legacy she leaves behind is one of kindness, strength, faith, and a deep devotion to family that will continue for generations.

Mrs. Hutcherson departed this life on May 30, 2026, in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 80 years, 7 months, and 2 days.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Bobby Gerald Hutcherson, Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Bethel Springs, Tennessee; three grandchildren,
Cain Hutcherson and wife, Ashley, of Bethel Springs, Tennessee, Makaila Hutcherson of Memphis, Tennessee, and Taryn King and husband,
Dakota, of Adamsville, Tennessee; four beloved great-grandchildren, Harley Jane King, Tatum Hutcherson, Hadley June King, Haisley Jo King; and special nieces, Venita Osborne, Vicky Allison, and Angie Yemma. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and treasured friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jon Hutcherson; and two sisters, Faye Hill and Maye Wolverton.

Though her family grieves her passing, they find comfort in the countless memories she created, the love she so freely gave, and the lasting impact she made on all who knew her. Her gentle spirit, caring nature, and unwavering love for her family will forever remain in their hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Forty Forks Baptist Church in honor of her life and legacy.
