Henderson, TN: Janie Marie Smith Stewart, age 74 passed away September 18, 2022 at Baptist Health in New Albany, IN.
She was born November 13, 1947 in Jackson, TN, the daughter of the late J.P. and Nola Mae Middleton Smith. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1966. She worked as a waitress and in manufacturing. She married Donald Stewart and they made their home at Jacks Creek. They moved to Indiana and worked as a florist and managed a Dollar General Store. Donald died in 2015.
Her passions sere working in flowers, reading and traveling.
She was a member of the Unity Baptist Church at Jacks Creek.
Mrs. Stewart is survived by two sons, Robert Stewart of Georgetown, IN and Eric Jason Stewart (Alicia) of New Albany, IN; a daughter, Christy Timberlake of New Salisbury, IN; a grandchild, Lauren Timberlake; a stepson, Todd Stewart of Henderson; a stepdaughter, Lee Ann Austin of Henderson and two sisters, Dorothy Janes of Jackson, TN and Margie Shade of Louisville, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Donald Stewart in 2015.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, September 22th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Allen Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday.
