Jay Bee Souders age 98 of Ramer, TN, was born July 29, 1921 in Fort Gibson, OK, the oldest of twelve kids. The son of the late Walter and Beulah Wright Souders. He departed this life on April 24, 2020 in Ramer, Tennessee at the age of 98 Years, 8 Months, 26 Days.
Mr. Souders was retired from the U. S. Navy after 23 years of service as Master Chief. He also was a Barber, taught at Ramer School, drove a school bus, Farmer and retired from the U. S. Postal Service as Post Master of Ramer, TN. He was a member of the Ruritan's, NARFE, American Legion and Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Souders was always learning. He enjoyed reading and playing golf. He loved God, family and church.
He is survived by daughter-in-law, Nancy Moore Souders of Ramer, TN; four step children: Mike Bullman and wife Diann of Sweet Lips, TN, Glenda Bell and husband Danny of Henderson, TN, Pam Cantrell and husband Mike of Philadelphia, PA, Lynnon Bullman and wife Pat of Five Points, TN; two grandchildren: Robby Jay Souders and wife Melissa of Crump, TN, Ralph William Souders Jr. and wife Mindy of Ramer, TN; 12 step grandchildren; three great grandchildren: Jacob Souders, Joshua Souders, Lily Ann Souders; 10 step great grandchildren; a sister, Janie Conkle of Oklahoma City, OK; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Souders was preceded in death by wife, Irma Doris Yocum Souders; wife, Madge Blasingame Souders: wife, Ocie Nell Bullman Souders; two sons, Ralph William Souders and George Souders; and 10 siblings.
A drive through visitation for Mr. Souders will be held at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer, TN on April 26, 2020 beginning at 12 pm and continuing until 2 pm. The public may participate, but participants must abide by the following requirements: FOR YOUR SAFETY, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO EXIT YOUR VEHICLE. AN ATTENDANT WILL LIST YOUR NAME IN THE REGISTER BOOK.
