Mrs. Shearin passed away Saturday at her home.
The wife of Joe Shearin, Jr., who survives, she worked as a special education teacher at Bolivar Middle School from the Fall of 1999 until 2002, implementing the Special Education program there at the school in 1999. She was born in Corinth, Miss., daughter of George and Jennie Sargent of Bolivar and lived in California for 10 years prior to moving here in 1984. She was a 1972 graduate of Amory High School, received her AA degree from Jackson State in 1994 and her BA in Special Education from the University of Memphis in 1998. She also worked with the adults at the developmental center in Bolivar. Her hobbies included fishing, gardening, cooking, visiting the smokey mountains and collecting bells from all over the world. Mrs. Shearin was a member of Dixie Hills Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, whom she married on August 2, 1986, and her parents, survivors include two daughters, Tabitha Gillen Johnson and her husband, Thomas, of Jackson and Crystal Barrett of Bolivar; two sisters, Shay Sargent Harris of Memphis and Chardale Bishop and her husband, Timmy, of New Castle; a brother, Edward Daniel Sargent of Lakeland; three grandchildren, Clayton and Dakota Weymouth and Kaden Jones; and one step grandchild, Chloe Johnson. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Elisabeth.
