Jean M. Smith was born March 27, 1927 in Luray, TN the daughter of the late Erwin Wilson and Annie Mae Bell McAdams.
Mrs. Smith graduated from Freed Hardeman University in Henderson, TN with a Bachelors of Education degree. She retired at the age of 80 from the Juvenile Courts of McNairy County. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Selmer, Tennessee.
In years past, many afternoons were spent playing golf at Selmer Country Club with her husband and friends. She loved to work in her yard, tending to her beautiful flowers.
Mrs. Smith departed this life on March 22, 2018 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 90 Years, 11 Months, 23 Days. She is survived by a son, Jerry Brown Smith Jr. and wife Jane of Jackson, TN; two daughters, Jeanie Kathryn Cartwright of Eustis, FL, Martha Alicia Caldwell and husband Sid of Corinth, MS; three grandchildren, Sarah Jane Nielsen and husband Chris, Carrie Brown Campbell and husband Nick, Kirby Cartwright and wife Kara; five great grandchildren, Eva Grace Nielsen, Christopher Brown Nielsen, Sarah Wray Campbell, Smith Kathryn Campbell, and Savannah Belle Cartwright; a sister, Joann Wagner of Jackson, TN; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Brown Smith, Sr.; two grandchildren, Anna Kathryn Smith, Jay Caldwell; a great-grandchild, Anna Suzanne Campbell; two sisters, Virginia Enoch and Martha Rubenstein; a brother, Paul McAdams.
