Alma Jean Taylor Vaughan

Alma Jean Taylor Vaughan, 93, of Bolivar, passed from this life Sunday morning, November 17, 2024, at her daughter's home.  She was the widow of Luther Garland Vaughan who died December 4, 2021.

A native of Laconia, she was one of 10 children born to Robert Leroy and Eva Esther Conner Taylor.  In 1942, the family moved to Middleton and on April 16, 1949, she married Mr. Vaughan.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded by two sisters, Barbara Barber and Clara Sparks and, four brothers, Jerry, Robert, Tom and Curtis Taylor.

Mrs. Vaughan worked many years in the Hardeman County School System as a teacher's aid/assistant and, in earlier years, was the first certified in-home day care operator in Hardeman County.  She was a faithful member of Shandy Baptist Church where she served as pianist and Sunday School teacher for many years.  As a Christian, she committed herself each day to loving her God and her family.

A creative woman, she loved to sew, crochet, paint, draw and was known for working with her flowers creating beautiful flower beds.  She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be held at Shandy Baptist Church Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.

She leaves her daughter, Renee Vandiver and her husband, Ronald, of Bolivar; her son, William Vaughan of Bolivar; two sisters, Brenda Yarbro and her husband, Robert, of New Braunfels, TX and Betty Locke of Pocahontas; a brother, Wayne Taylor of Memphis; two grandchildren, Russell Vandiver and his wife, Kristin, of Medina and Rex Vandiver and his wife, MIchelle, of Jackson; and five great-grandchildren, Addison, Lexie, Kimber, Ashlyn and Asher; and a host of nieces and nephews.
