Jere Beene
Henderson: Jere Enloe Beene, age 83, died Sunday morning, April 17, 2016 at Henderson Healthcare.
Mr. Beene was born and reared in Chester County, the son of the late Walter Gordon and Mary Elizabeth Yearwood Beene. He attended schools in Chester County and in 1952 married Frances Scott. He entered the United States Army in 1953 and served an enlistment. He drove an eighteen wheeler hauling cotton for Raymond Bishop, worked at Grinnell for several years, then went to work at Proctor and Gamble for twenty one years, retiring in 1994. He loved tending to his cows, gardening and following his granddaughter’s sporting activities.
He is survived by a son Scott Beene and wife Norma of Henderson, two granddaughters; Cynthia and Kasie Beene, a brother Jimmy Beene of Bethel Springs and a sister Sue Burgend of Henderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Frances, three brothers; Howard Beene, B. W. Beene, and Curtis Beene and five sisters; Onnie Houska, Marie Kennedy, Margie Stanfill, Velma Romines, and Georgiana Rameriz.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Roy Sharp officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford – Casey Chapel from 5 PM until 9 PM Monday.
