Jerry Wayne Burks

Jerry Wayne Burks was born October 7, 1939 in McNairy County, TN the son of the late Marvin and Edna Garrison Burks.

He was united in marriage to Jimmie Erwin on March 3, 1961.

Jerry graduated from Selmer High School and attended Business College.  He worked as the office manager for Pickwick Electric Cooperative in Selmer for 35 years and served his State and Nation honorably as a member of the Tennessee National Guard.  Woodworking and vegetable gardening were among Jerry's favorite activities.  He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Atlanta Braves, U. T. Vols, and Memphis Grizzlies fan.  Jerry was a member of the West Shiloh Baptist Church.  

Jerry departed this life on February 6, 2024 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 84 Years, 3 Months, 30 Days.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jimmie (Erwin) Burks of Adamsville, TN; a son, Jamie Burks and wife Melinda of Columbia, TN; five grandchildren: Jennie Lamon and husband David of Knoxville, TN, Grant Burks of Austin, TX, Madalyn Leatherman and husband Andrew of Harlem, GA, Mallory Joyce and husband Steven of Hendersonville, TN, and Miller Riggins of Columbia, TN; five great-grandchildren: Ryleigh Lamon, Reid Lamon, Julian Joyce, Kendall Leatherman, and Fallon Leatherman; a brother, Johnny Burks and wife Susan of Adamsville, TN; a special friend, Lori Lombardi of Adamsville, TN; and many extended family and friends.  

Memorials may be made to the Adamsville First Baptist Church building fund.
