Jerry Luther Burns

Jerry Luther Burns was born May 22, 1950 in Florence, AL, the son of the late George Luther and Earlene Smith Burns. Mr. Burns was a mechanic and member of Murphy's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.

Mr. Burns departed this life, Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at his home at the age of 67 Years, 10 Months, 13 Days.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara West McWilliams Burns of Florence, AL; son, Jason Burns of Florence, AL; stepsons, Jackie McWilliams and wife, Kim of Waterloo, AL, Bobby McWilliams and wife, Janet of Iron City, TN; a daughter, Stacey Burns-Bennett and husband, Oneil Bennett of Harvest, AL; grandchildren, Yolanda Bennett, Kayla Johnson, Emma McWilliams, Lynsdey Brooks; great-grandchildren, KaBreyia Riley, Jernee Brewer; a brother, L. C. Burns of Florence, AL; a sister, Ruth Lanier of Florence, AL; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Burns was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Burns; sisters, Betty Burns, Goldie Smith, Sarah Ann Crider.

Services will be Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Jimmy Shields and Charles Linam officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Cemetery, Cypress Inn, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be David Burns, Jason (Hoghead) Johnson, Tony Burns, Jesse Burns, Junior Jaynes and Joey West. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Hill and Jimmy Johnson.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 6 to 9 pm and Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 11 am until service time at the funeral home.
