Jerry Wayne Horton

Jerry Wayne Horton was born in Waynesboro, TN, May 16, 1948, the son of the late Bill and Leona Horton. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Gayle Ezell Horton.
Jerry was a US Air Force veteran, founder of SweetWater Energy and served on their board of directors and Founder of Cedar Creek, Rochester, NY. He held 4 US Patents, was farmer and breeder of Simmental Cattle and owner of 48 Creek Livestock, Waynesboro, TN and was on the Board of Directors for the New York Simmental Cattle Association.
Jerry departed this life Saturday, January 7, 2017 at his home in Rush, NY at the age of 68 years.
Other than his wife, he is survived by his sisters, Jewell Sanders, Lefan Cole and husband, Gilbert and Dean Donovan and husband, Bill all of Waynesboro, TN and Paulette Smith of Unionville, TN; seven nephews; six nieces; twelve great-nephews; seven great-nieces; four great-great-nephews and two great-great-nieces; mother-in-law, Euna Ezell of Lawrenceburg, TN and Gayle's special cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Billie Sue Sanders; brother-in-law, Loyd Sanders and father-in-law, Lloyd Ezell.
Services will be Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11 am at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Waynesboro, TN with Bro. Larry Janes officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Lawrence County Memorial Gardens, Lawrenceburg, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing.
Visitation will be Friday, January 13, 2017 from 5:30 - 9:00 pm and Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 8 am until service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers, Bob Sanders, Doug Sanders, Tim Sanders, Billy Donovan, Donnie Donovan and Dewayne Cole. Honorary pallbearers, Cullen Sanders, Nicky Hartsfield, Steve Cannon, Essam Al Dahan and Denis Ciaciugh.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Humane Society Lollypop Farms of Greater Rochester; info@lollypop.org., Green River Tabernacle, Waynesboro, TN or Shriner's Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL, 33607.
