Jerry "J.O." Cole, age 70 of Bolivar, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, July 19, 2018, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was born November 17, 1947 in Brownsville, MS to Martha Lillie Majors Cole and lived most of his life in Bolivar. He worked many years at Master Slack then became a driver for B&C Trucking and KGT Trucking, prior to retiring in 2014. He served in the US Army from 1968-71 during the Vietnam Conflict. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and loved telling stories of the past.
Survivors include his mother, Martha Lillie Cole of Bolivar; a daughter, Tina Lowrance (Wallace) of Morenci, AZ; a son, Jamie Cole (Dana) of Somerville; two brothers, James "Butch" Cole (Michelle) of Silerton and Joe Cole (Wanda) of Bolivar; three grandchildren, Rodney Mitchell Cole, Joshua Allen West and Ryan Nicholas Hale; two great grandchildren, Naomi Grace Cole and Adalynn Denise West; a niece, Leah Nuckolls (Jim); and nephews, Fabian Cole and Eric Cole. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Margaret Sue Cole in 1996.
