Jerry Sanford Wigginton

Jerry Sanford Wigginton, a beloved member of the Michie, Tennessee community, passed away on August 20, 2023, at the age of 76 Years, 8 Months, and 27 Days. He was born on November 24, 1946, in Corinth, MS to the late James Martin and Mildred Chambers Wigginton.

Jerry's life was filled with love and commitment. On December 1, 1967, he married the love of his life, Regenia Durbin. Together they shared a beautiful journey that spanned over five decades.

Jerry completed his high school education at Michie High School in 1964 and went on to attend Bethel College. Throughout his life, he demonstrated an unwavering dedication to learning.

Professionally, Jerry was the proud owner and operator of JW Auto Sales for many years. Additionally, he worked at Duren Supply in Adamsville and pursued farming. His dedication to hard work was evident in all aspects of his life.

Beyond work, Jerry had many interests and passions. He found peace and joy in various activities such as fishing, camping, gardening, and vacationing in the Great Smoky Mountains. Nothing brought him greater happiness than spending quality time with his family.

Jerry cherished community connection. He would often spend his mornings at Michie store enjoying coffee alongside neighbors and friends. He also formed strong bonds through playing dominoes at the local domino club.

An active member of the Michie First Baptist Church in Michie, Tennessee,  he used his talents as a song leader when needed and taught Sunday school with great passion. Moreover, Jerry eagerly offered his assistance wherever there was a need.

Jerry Sanford Wigginton is survived by his loving wife, Regenia Wigginton of Michie, TN; a son, Jeremy Wigginton and his wife Marcia of Michie, TN; a daughter, Christie Tucker and her husband Scott of Ramer, TN. Jerry's legacy continues through his five cherished grandchildren: Morgan Roberson and husband Brandon of Corinth, MS, Madison Wallis and  husband Kasey of Corinth, MS, Mitchell Tucker, Marlee Tucker, and Milee Tucker; great-granddaughter, Emma Wallis; sister-in-law, Ann Wigginton of Michie, TN; aunt, Jo Ann Hughes of Michie, TN; and a host of friends and family that loved him dearly. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wigginton was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Wigginton.

Jerry Sanford Wigginton will always be remembered for the love he shared and the kindness he extended to all those around him. His presence will be deeply missed.
