Jessie Burns was born on January 29, 1935, in Selmer, Tennessee, the son of the late Charlie and Mackie Lipford Burns.

On December 25, 1957, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jean. Together they shared more than 62 years of marriage before her passing on July 30, 2019.

Jessie was a hardworking man whose life was defined by dedication to both his family and his work. He began his career at Wurlitzer, remaining with the company through its transition to Leedo, before later retiring from FCA. No matter where he worked, he was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to lend a helping hand.

Outside of work, Jessie found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time fishing, tending to the family farm, bush-hogging fields, and keeping his yard looking its best. He also had a knack for "piddling" with and repairing cars, always enjoying the satisfaction of fixing something with his own hands. For more than 40 years, Jessie faithfully attended North Corinth Baptist Church, where his quiet faith and steady presence reflected the way he lived each day.

Mr. Burns departed this life on July 28, 2026, in Corinth, Mississippi, at the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 29 days.

He is survived by two sons, Paul Burns and wife, Cathy, and Ricky Burns and wife, Teresa; four grandchildren, Paula Denise Burns, Casey Thomas and husband, Jason, Clay Burns and wife, Annalese, and A.J. Burns; five great-grandchildren, Dominic McCoy, Dayton Burns, Darbie Burns, Lillie Burns, and Kalli Briggs; and a special caregiver and dear friend, Robert Wilbanks, whose kindness, companionship, and faithful care meant so much to Jessie and his family.

In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Mr. Burns was preceded in death by a brother, James Burns; an infant sister, Marion Kay Burns; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Burns.

Jessie will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful friend, and a man who found happiness in honest work, the outdoors, and caring for the things and people he loved. His legacy of hard work, humility, and quiet strength will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
