Jessie Willard Long was born September 29, 1935 in Waynesboro, TN the son of the late Amos Hershel and Lula Bell Crawley Long. He was united in marriage to Betty Jean Mackin that preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the United States National Guard, a member of Mount Hope Methodist Church in Waynesboro, TN, worked for many years at Wayne Metal, and retired as a welder from Johnson Controls. Mr. Long departed this life on August 22, 2022 in Waynesboro, TN at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 24 days.
He is survived by two daughters, Teresa Mathis and husband Tom of Clifton, TN, and Sabrina Tank of Columbia, TN; two step daughters, Denise Warren and husband John of Waynesboro, TN, and Gayla Taylor and husband Paul of Collinwood, TN; a brother, Franklin Dee Long and wife Lois of Lawrenceburg, TN; and a sister, Frankie Skelton of Waynesboro, TN; six grandchildren, Shelly Billman, Bo Mathis and wife Cassidy, Nick Tank, Blake Tank, Natasha Moser, and Lindsay Creasy; and nine great grandchildren, Brady Billman, and Jade Smith, Nash Mathis, Raven Greathouse, John Moser, James Moser, Hudson Creasy, Noah Creasy, and Silas Creasy; two great-great grandchild, Mikah Greathouse and Violet Greathouse.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Long was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas Long, Amos Junior Long, and James Long; and five sisters, Dean Matney, Peggy Ricketts, Shirley Jean Sizemoke, Aileen Pulley, and Blanche Coeville.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm service time at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN, with Jason Love officiating. Burial will follow in the Clifton Cemetery at Clifton, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
