Jessie Mae Thompson Tatum of Waynesboro was born February 9, 1922 in Wayne County, TN, the daughter of the late Louish Benjamin Thompson and Ena Beatrice Howell Thompson. Mrs. Tatum died on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at her home in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 93 Years, 23 Days. She was married to Hunter Tatum October 2, 1945 and he preceded her in death April 27, 1993. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She is survived by a son, Harold Tatum and wife Betty of Waynesboro, TN, four daughters, Willie Ann Scott and husband David of Savannah, TN, Lillian Pigg and husband Leland , Louise Staggs and husband Ronnie, Dorthy Howell and husband Steve all of Waynesboro, TN, ten grandchildren, Lisa Gatlin, Linda Crews, Leon Pigg, Sherry Sherrill, Janice Hickerson, Felicia Love, Christopher Clayton, Alisha Smith, Dustin Tatum, and Aubry Tatum, 4 step grandchildren, Ron and Nathan Staggs, Regina Beckham, and Paul Scott, 12 great-grandchildren. 3 great-great-grandchildren, several foster grandchildren, and special neighbors, Tommy and Lisa Fisher.
Services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Waynesboro with Jason Love officiating. Burial will follow in the North Highland Cemetery, Highway 13 North, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers are Dwight Sherrill, Jackie Gatlin, Gil Hickerson, Steve Crews, Christopher Clayton, and Leon Pigg.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
