Henderson: Jessie Lee Thomas, age 90, passed away Thursday morning at her home in Henderson.
She was born in Henderson County, TN on October 9, 1929, daughter of the late Alger and Dovie Brown Smith. She grew up in Henderson County and married Major Wayne Thomas in September of 1948 and they made their home in Chester County. Mr. Thomas preceded her in death October of 1998 after 50 years together. She worked at Salant & Salant Manufacturing for 15 years and later worked as a cook for West Chester Elementary School for 17 years. She was a faithful member of Cave Springs Baptist Church and attended regularly until her health declined. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family whom she dearly loved.
She is survived by her three sons, Jackie Thomas (Carolyn), Johnny Thomas (Lorena) and Jimmy Thomas all of Henderson; 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren and one on the way, and a loving caretaker Lori Turner.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Thomas; three brothers, E. C. Smith, Bobby Smith and an infant twin brother; two sisters, Opal Austin and Ola Hart.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Saturday, May 30 at Cave Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Ronnie Geary officiating with burial to follow in Cave Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 4:00 PM Saturday at the church.
