JEWELL LEE JOHNSON
Henderson, Tennessee; Jewell Lee Johnson age 92, passed away August 21, 2015 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born in Pontotoc, MS and reared in Jackson, TN, the daughter of the late Luther and Essie Smith Lee. She attended schools in Madison County and also worked at Woolco in Jackson. Jewell married J.W. Johnson in 1944 and they made their home in the Sweetlip community of Chester County. She worked a couple of years at Salant and Salant Manufacturing in Henderson, then she and her husband operated a Grocery Store in the Deanburg community from 1952-1961. Mr. Johnson passed on June 10, 2015. Mrs. Johnson loved taking care of her family.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by three sons, James Johnson and wife Linda, Jerry Johnson, and Jimmy Johnson all of Henderson and a sister Virgie Seeley of Chattanooga, TN.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joe Johnson and four brothers, Wendell, Buddy, L.P. and Wilmer Lee.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, August 24, 2015 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Rev. Mike Cothren officiating. Burial will follow in the Faith Baptist Church cemetery.
